Gold Panning

Strike Gold at Firefall Ranch!

fourdiamondAAA

Seek your fortune by panning for gold just like the adventurous treasure seekers that flocked to the Sierras during the California Gold Rush in the 1840's!

After millions of years of weathering, gold flakes and beautiful minerals are eroded out of rock veins and carried away by streams. Gold is 19 times heavier than water and tends to settle in the bends of these streams with sand and gravel, forming deposits called placer.

Deposits like these were found at Sutter's Mill (about 100 miles from Firefall Ranch) in 1848 and led to the gold rush that brought 300,000 prospectors to this area hoping to strike it rich.

Gold panning is a self-guided adventure, giving you space and time to test your skills and enjoy the moment.

Treasure seekers ages 3 and up are welcome, and it’s a perfect activity for families, friends, or solo adventurers. Gold panning kits are available for purchase at Reception.
