Then there’s Firefall Ranch, a new property 20 minutes away from Yosemite’s Big Oak Flat entrance, offering villas so jaw-droppingly gorgeous you won’t want to leave. The staff members are some of the kindest people I’ve ever interacted with, the breakfast options are delicious, and the 24-hour heated pool and hot tub are a rarity to take advantage of. The view of the stars is stunning from the deck or the walk around the on-site lake, complete with semi-aggressive geese. You can even go horseback riding! The Smith Station Stables offers visitors hour-long equestrian rides, complete with a hands-on lesson.
Of course, this option costs a pretty penny: A two-bedroom villa starts at about $600. But split between four people, the extraordinary experience feels worth the $150 a night, even if only for a day or two.
